The real questions before installing solar panels
Can British nationals install solar panels in the Balearics after Brexit?
Yes. Post-Brexit, British citizens are non-EU residents in Spain, but they have the same rights as any other non-resident to install solar panels on their Spanish property. You'll need an NIE (Foreign Identification Number) and a Spanish bank account to receive the subsidy. We handle the entire process and you can sign digitally from the UK.
How much does a solar installation cost in the Balearic Islands?
Our standard packages: 3 kW from €5,500, 5 kW from €7,200 and 10 kW from €12,400. The IRPF deduction (20-60%) and municipal IBI/ICIO rebates are recovered afterwards through your tax return and town hall — they don't discount the invoice. There is currently no direct grant for residential solar panels (the IDAE/FOTOPAR call closed on 30 April 2026, with no confirmed date for a new one).
Do I need to be in Spain during the installation?
No. The entire process can be handled remotely. You sign documents digitally from the UK, we coordinate the installation date with your property manager or housekeeper, and we send photos and reports at every step. Many of our British clients are only in Mallorca a few weeks per year.
What subsidies are available for solar installations in the Balearics?
Several benefits apply to a home installation. For solar panels, three are active: the IRPF income tax deduction (20-60%), the municipal IBI rebate (25-50%) and the ICIO construction tax rebate (50-95%) — each recovered afterwards through its own channel. The residential solar direct grant (IDAE/FOTOPAR) closed on 30 April 2026 with no confirmed date for a new call. Separately, FACTOR 2026 (open until 28 February 2027) funds home batteries, heat pumps and EV charging — but not a private individual's solar panels.
